Holi-Ceremonies Kicks Off in India


The people in India are celebrating the joys of Holi which is just a day away. The celebrations are now at its peak. People with painted faces including small children and youngsters, SMSes moving in mobiles and the office-goers getting into the festive spirit, the feelings of the joys are evident in the big cities.

Holi, also known as the Festival of Colours, is a spring festival celebrated by Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Jains and others. It is primarily observed in India, Nepal, Srilanka and Bangladesh.


It is celebrated at the end of the autumn season, on the last full moon day of the lunar month Phalgun (February/March). Normally, it falls in the later part of February or March. In 2009, Holi was celebrated on 11th March . Now it is on First March in 2010.
